For those of you who have ever tried to hang curtains you know how much hassle the job can be. What is a Tension Rod?

Not only do these rods make short work of hanging those window curtains but they are great for closets and shower curtains as well.

While most tension rods are built to fit the frame in such a way that they stay in place even when clothes are hung on them, many tension rods come with hidden screws for those wanting to make sure their rod holds under the weight of heavy winter coats and sweaters. This screw while often not necessary simply adds a feeling of security when one is needed.

What if There Is No Tension Rod Large Enough To Fit The Space I Need?

It is wise to keep in mind that the longer the rod the less support there is for the middle, so you might want to choose a lightweight curtain fabric if you are spanning a 6', 8' or longer room and want to hang a curtain down the center. Choosing heavy drapery material or canvas just might be a little too much for even these tough rods when covering a large distance.

Tension rods can be the ideal solution for hanging curtains in a window, a closet or shower. They can also be used in a number of other ways as well to provide shade or privacy. They are economical, handy and easy to use.
